The Parliament's visitor centre
"The budgetary control committee asked why the Parliament's new visitor centre in Brussels had not yet opened. The plan to set up the new 6,000 square-metre centre was approved four years ago, but construction was delayed by having to translate tender documents and abiding by Belgian rules, the Parliament said. It added that some bidding procedures on contracting out the needed work on the centre were cancelled because offers submitted were “overpriced” and showed possible collusion between construction bidders.
The project has also been bogged down over what the final design concept of the centre is supposed to be. The centre is to house multimedia exhibits on the history and evolution of European integration, in all 23 official EU languages. The opening is expected sometime this spring."
